The transmembrane receptor-like protein encoded by the proto-oncogene Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) gene has tyrosine kinase activity, and HER2 is an important prognostic factor for breast cancer. Breast cancer with HER2 gene amplification or protein overexpression has special clinical features and biological behaviors, and the treatment regimen is very different from other types of breast cancer.
